A 52-year-old visual artist from Minas Gerais, Brazil, born in the countryside of the state. He grew up in a small town, immersed in a simple way of life and the vibrant colors of the rural landscape, within a family devoted to both Afro-Brazilian ancestral traditions and Catholicism—having been in contact with these spiritual practices since the age of five. In the studio of his uncle, also a visual artist, he began handling artistic materials and was introduced to the great masters of art history.
His work has been shaped by influential artists from Minas Gerais and Rio de Janeiro, blending tradition with bold experimentation. With exhibitions across Brazil and Europe, he settled in Lisbon, where he transforms memories of Brazil into works that pulse with color and emotion.
Silvio DeBorgges lives and works in Lisbon (Portugal).
