...Galerie Anna-Tschopp was founded in 2005 with the guiding principle that everything is not equal and that there are notable differences between works of a single artist. Our task is therefore to seek out and offer our clients the works that we consider to be the most representative or emblematic of each of the artists we follow. The hours we have spent talking with them in their studios have given us a more nuanced and differentiated perception of their work. These conversations have convinced us that the value of a an artwork depends not only on its ‘aesthetics’ but also on its place in history. This is why we strive to put most of the works we offer for sale into their artistic and historical contents.

Operating in Marseille means paying particular attention to everything Mediterranean, especially the diversity of its cultures. ‘Mare Nostrum’, as defined in Trajan's century, is geographically our main pool of artists. This area stretches from the Strait of Gibraltar to Armenia and covers Spain, France, Italy, the former Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Egypt and the Maghreb countries. But while ‘Mare Nostrum’ is our general source of supply, Marseille, ‘Massilia Nostrum’, remains our centre of gravity... Yves Gnaegy
